On Saturday, 60 seedlings of coniferous trees were planted in the Valery Khubulov Park in Tskhinval, which laid the foundation for the South Ossetian-Syrian Friendship Alley.
The planting of seedlings was attended by officials of the Republic led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Medoev, a delegation of the parliamentary center "Integrated Security of the Fatherland" and the Russian Club of Holders of State Awards of the Republic of South Ossetia, headed by People's Artist of Russia and South Ossetia A.V. Pankratov-Cherny, pupils of the Tskhinval school # 6.
The action took place on the initiative of the Russian delegation and with the assistance of the Tskhinval Administration in honor of the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the recognition of the state independence of the RSO by Syria.
The event was organized under the patronage of President of the Republic Anatoly Bibilov.
People's Artist of Russia and South Ossetia Alexander Pankratov-Cherny has noted that he was given the right to plant the first seedling.
“Visitors to the park will see that the first tree in the alley was planted by Alexander Pankratov-Cherny, which is a pleasure. Let everything that is created in the Republic speak of peace, joy and warmth, and this place of leisure will become a park of peace and friendship,” said the artist.
According to him, in South Ossetia he was told that the path of the great Saint Andrew the First-Called passed through the Republic.
“Andrew the First-Called was bringing people light, knowledge, and, of course, friendship and peace. So, Ossetia can be considered the birthplace of St. Andrew the First-Called. And now the threads of friendship are stretching to South Ossetia, and this park will lead visitors from the main gate to the alley of friendship, peace and prosperity. And the bonds of friendship are expanding. Syria has already recognized South Ossetia, and we recognize Syria, which means there is a reason to hug and sit at the same table. God and Andrew the First-Called bless us,” he stressed.
Chairman of the Board of the Parliamentary Center "Integrated Security of the Fatherland" Sergei Kharkov has noted that the creation of the Friendship Alley was discussed jointly with the leadership of South Ossetia.
“We talked about the fact that the People's Friendship Alley could unite, it will become the first step towards the unification of peoples. Everything possible will be done for this,” he said.
Honorary Citizen of the Hero City of Tskhinval Viktor Bunin added that "today is a significant day."
“We planted the alley in honor of the third anniversary of the recognition of South Ossetia by the Syrian Republic. The Friendship Alley will remind you of this date. Let our descendants remember about it for centuries,” he said.
Dmitry Medoev, in turn, has noted that a double date is being celebrated in South Ossetia today - the 29th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic's Independence Act and the recognition of the Republic of South Ossetia by Syria.
“In this regard, our friends came to us with the initiative to plant the Alley of Friendship, and today, with God's help, we did it very well and beautifully,” the Foreign Minister stressed.
