President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov sent a message of gratitude to President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad in connection with the 3rd anniversary of the recognition of the independence of the Republic by Syria, the press service of the head of state reported.
“Three years ago, the Syrian Arab Republic recognized the independence of the Republic of South Ossetia. The decision on recognition you made, Mr. President, was based on a deep understanding of the emerging international realities and indicated open and firm support for the just struggle of the people of South Ossetia for the inalienable right to self-determination and freedom.
Strengthening the international positions of the revived statehood of our people, your decision was at the same time an important step in the formation of a fair system of world order based on the supremacy of the principles of international law,” the message says.
Anatoly Bibilov noted that “People of South Ossetia are proud of friendship with the freedom-loving Syrian people and, no matter how much time passes, they will always remember with gratitude that the Syrian Arab Republic was one of the first countries that extended a hand of support to the Republic of South Ossetia”.
“Striving for the further progressive development of friendly relations between our two countries, I ask you, Mr. President, to accept my wishes of good health, prosperity and success to you, your loved ones and all the fraternal people of the Syrian Arab Republic,” the head of state said.
