Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Merab Pukhaev, Deputy Chief of the Public Security Police Gennady Laliev, Head of the Public Order Protection Department Mair Gagloev and the Vadim Gazzaev OMON officers, led by OMON commander Igor Pliev, laid wreaths and flowers at the obelisk to the to the riot policemen, perished while repelling the Georgian aggression in June 1992 on the territory of the fuel and energy complex.

“Every year on June 7, we come here to honor the memory of our comrades in arms, who laid down their heads for their long-suffering people. Such a monument was also erected in the village of Tbet, where riot policemen were killed in 2008. We must not forget their names, but pass on this tradition to the younger generation, instill in them love for the Motherland, teach them a respectful attitude towards the heroic past of our country. As long as we remember, their names will live on,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs quoted the words of the OMON commander.

On the territory of the fuel and energy complex in bloody battles, six riot policemen laid down their heads. The courage and heroism of Stanislav Gabaraev, Zurab Gubaev, Gennady Dzhabiev, Yuri Kozhukhov, Alexander Mikhailenko and Grigory Sanakoev will forever remain in the memory of the people.

The OMON of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic was formed in February 1992. Vadim Gazzaev became the founder and first commander of the detachment.
