The joining of Crimea to Russia, as well as the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia by the Russian Federation, was dictated by history, Sergei Tsekov, a representative from the legislative body of state power of the Republic of Crimea, said at the meeting of the RSO parliamentary commission on cooperation with the Federation Council of Russia.
According to him, "the reunification of Crimea with Russia, the situation with the recognition of the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia is some kind of catalyst for rethinking many international standards and rights for a more just solution of regional issues."
