Georgia continues to ignore South Ossetia's peace-loving proposals to sign a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between Tbilisi, Sukhum and Tskhinval.

However, it would be unfair to blame official Tbilisi for this: it is unlikely that it decides anything in its own fate. Especially in the field of foreign policy and especially after the color revolution of 2003, which swept away the remnants of an already purely symbolic sovereignty and brought Georgia under the tight all-round US control.

Instead of supporting the diplomatic efforts of its neighbors, Georgia, with the support of the United States and the NATO, continues to build muscle and strengthen its military power.

The United States and its allies on Monday launched the massive Sea Breeze 2021 multinational maneuver, which will last until July 10 in the Black Sea and will be a decisive demonstration of NATO support for Kiev. This year's Sea Breeze exercises are the largest in history. They involve 5,000 people from 32 countries, 32 ships, 40 aircraft and 18 special operations teams and divers.

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Defense Ministry of Georgia are also taking part in the Sea Breeze. The Georgian Interior Ministry has reported that the Department of the Coast Guard of the Ministry's Border Police will take part in the naval exercises this year with the patrol ships Dioscuria and Ochamchire.

In addition to them, the 31st Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the Western Command of the Georgian Defense Forces will also take part in Sea Breeze 2021. In addition, a group of divers of the Special Operations Forces will take part in sea diving exercises in the port of Odessa. Also, five officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense will be involved in the Sea Breeze training headquarters.

Also participating are Australia, Albania, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Denmark, Egypt, Spain, Estonia, Turkey, Japan, Israel, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Moldova, Norway, Pakistan, Greece, South Korea, France, Senegal, Tunisia and Sweden. NATO's second permanent naval unit (SNMG2) is also participating in the exercises.

Although the situation on the state border between South Ossetia and Georgia remains relatively stable, the latter may at any moment aggravate and launch a new intervention against South Ossetia. Let's not forget that Georgia's full-scale military aggression against South Ossetia and Russia in 2008 began precisely after its military exercises with the United States.

To prevent this, the South Ossetian, Russian and Abkhaz delegations at the international discussions in Geneva focused their priority attention on ensuring reliable security in the South Caucasus, which is unthinkable without the conclusion of the aforementioned agreement.

In contrast to Russia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the United States and the de facto subordinate countries of the aggressive military-political NATO alliance continue to further absorb Georgia and gradually transform it into a springboard for aggressive actions against Russia and its allies in the Caucasus.

Georgia does not recognize South Ossetia, refuses to conclude an agreement with it and Abkhazia on the non-use of force, to compensate for the damage caused and to end the confrontation to please non-regional forces. Instead, it continues to undermine the regional security architecture, posing a threat to all nations of the Caucasus and is the source of a new armed conflict.

The aforementioned NATO naval exercises in the Black Sea Sea Breeze are quite eloquent evidence of its aggressive aspirations and far-reaching plans. These exercises aim to intimidate South Ossetia and Abkhazia and destabilize the situation in the zones of recent conflicts.

Contrary to the peaceful position of South Ossetia, Georgia is not interested in the ongoing work to eliminate the existing contradictions, its destructive policy jeopardizes cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.

Russia also does not stand aside, which is forced to take adequate retaliatory measures. As recently noted by the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation, the forces and means of the Black Sea Fleet are carrying out a set of measures to control the actions of the ships taking part in the exercises.
