The State Security Committee of South Ossetia continues to implement a set of measures to suppress the activities of foreign special services in the border area to the detriment of the security of the Republic, the press service of the department reported.

"Within the framework of this work, a resident of the Leningor village has been identified., maintaining stable contacts with representatives of the Georgian special services, on whose instructions he collected and transmitted information regarding the situation on the state border and the activities of border agencies to protect it," the KGB said.

It was noted that "taking into account the fact that the materials transferred by the person to the Georgian side do not constitute a state secret, his actions have not actually harmed the security of the Republic yet, on July 20, the State Security Committee announced to him an official warning about the inadmissibility of actions that create conditions for committing a crime under Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Espionage"."

According to the legislation of the Republic, high treason and espionage are considered especially grave crimes against the individual, society and the state, for the commission of which criminal liability is provided in the form of imprisonment for a period of 12 to 20 years.

The State Security Committee has called on the citizens of South Ossetia: before committing such an unlawful act, to think about the possible consequences of the onset of criminal liability.
