The State Security Committee has noted the intensification of actions by destructive forces in Georgia to destabilize the situation on the South Ossetian-Georgian state border by discrediting the border authorities of South Ossetia and Russia in the information space.
"Thus, in the publications of the Georgian mass media, false information is spread about the alleged harassment by the authorities of the RSO of the citizen of Georgia Valentina Vanishvili, who is living in the vicinity of the settlement of Amdzarin, Leningor district, in the immediate vicinity of the state border. According to the authors of the publications, she is not allowed to see relatives who live in Georgia, "the KGB said in a statement released on Wednesday.
The KGB has noted that these statements are untrue. "Against the background of continuing tendencies towards the deterioration of the sanitary-epidemic situation in Georgia and the closure of the state border, the leadership of South Ossetia has developed a mechanism for the admission of persons who have expressed a desire to leave for Georgia or return to the territory of South Ossetia. It consists in the appeal to the heads of district administrations and subsequent decision-making by the leadership of the Republic for admission. Compliance with the established procedure for crossing the border excludes the possibility of uncontrolled spread of coronavirus infection, since in this case the necessary quarantine measures will be provided," the Committee has stated.
"The authorities of South Ossetia, guided solely by the interests of ensuring the security of their citizens, consider and make individual and motivated decisions for each resident who needs to visit the territory of the neighboring state or return to South Ossetia, which excludes the possibility of harming the security of the Republic of South Ossetia," the press service of the KGB noted.
The KGB of the Republic has warned residents of the border areas, incl. relatives of V. Vanishvili from offenses in the border area, as in case of a deliberate violation of the state border, they may face not only administrative but also criminal liability.
