At the next round of Geneva discussions on security in Transcaucasia, South Ossetian representatives still intend to seek concrete progress in working out a document on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia and Abkhazia, the head of the South Ossetian delegation at the discussions, State Adviser to the President of the Republic Konstantin Kochiev told the “Res” news agency.

“The next round of discussions will take place on October 12-13. The main goal of the South Ossetian party, as in the previous rounds, remains the development of a document on the non-use of force. The issue of the missing citizens of South Ossetia and the protection of the rights of the expelled Ossetian population of Tyrsygom also remain on the agenda,” Kochiev said.

Earlier, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, at the meeting with the EU, UN and OSCE co-chairs, said that the issues raised at the Geneva platform should be based on justice.

The head of state called the Geneva discussions an important platform where South Ossetia has the opportunity to bring its position to the world community and talk about the ongoing processes. The President has added that South Ossetia is ready to continue its cooperation in this direction.

“But at the same time, some questions arise. The main goal of the discussions is the signing of a legally binding document on the non-use of force by Georgia against South Ossetia. South Ossetia has never used force against Georgia, but the neighborhood should be friendly. The main task is to sign a document on the non-use of force,” Bibilov said.

The Geneva discussions are held since 2008 in accordance with the Medvedev-Sarkozy plan. They are attended by representatives of the Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, the Russian Federation, the United States of America, as well as the UN, OSCE and the EU.
