The analysis of the situation on the South Ossetian-Georgian state border received by the KGB of South Ossetia indicates the relationship between the socio-economic situation of the population of the Georgian border area and the number of violations of the state border in search of better living conditions.

This is stated in the statement released on Wednesday by the State Security Committee of South Ossetia.

“Thus, during a survey of the Georgian citizens who violated the state border regime in the southern outskirts of Tskhinval on October 4, it became known that they had previously lived in South Ossetia, but in 2008, as a result of the hostilities unleashed by Georgia against the South Ossetian people, were forced to leave their homes and settled in a refugee camp near Gori. The program of social support for refugees and persons arriving in the Georgian regions for permanent residence is not working properly, "the statement says.

The KGB has noted that the funds allocated by Western curators are spent not for their intended purpose, and the high level of unemployment, as well as the indifference of official Tbilisi to the problems of its population, deprives those living in refugee camps of any opportunity for successful assimilation and encourages them to make attempts to return to South Ossetia. often in violation of the administrative and legal regimes established on the state border.

"It should be noted that the Georgian media are actively disseminating the information about the provision of various types of assistance to South Ossetia, including for the fight against coronavirus infection, which in fact is another propaganda that serves as a report to Western owners for incoming financial injections," the KGB stressed, adding that "taking into account the complex epidemiological and socio-political situation in Georgia, official Tbilisi should pay due attention to the situation of Georgian refugees who, due to their difficult financial situation, are forced to engage in illegal activities."
