Within the framework of the event, the presentation of the book by V. Zakharov and M. Vaskov "Historical and political and legal foundations of the independence of the republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia" took place.

“The book is devoted to a problem that has caused a different attitude towards it from many world states. The bloody aggression of Georgia, which tried to return the people of Abkhazia and South Ossetia oppressed by it, the destruction of civilians, infrastructure facilities did not help the nationalist Georgian leadership. A few years later, with the development and support of the United States of plans for a new occupation, on 08.08.2008, a blitzkrieg took place, later called a five-day war, which ended in the complete collapse of the aggressor and Russia's recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. To date, five UN member States have recognized their independence. However, double standards in the world politics interfere with the normal life of these countries that have emerged in the post-Soviet space.

The Georgians called their operation in South Ossetia "Tsminda veli", meaning "an open field". But the Georgian language has outplayed the Georgian military. Another meaning of the word "tsminda" is "holy." They wanted to make South Ossetia a “an open field”, but it turned out to be a holy one ,” the press service said in the statement.

At the South Ossetian State University, they noted that the book was intended for students and teachers, for everyone interested in the history of the South Caucasus.
