Victory Day in South Ossetia will be celebrated with a military parade, the march of the Immortal Regiment column, actions, festive concerts and victorious fireworks. Minister of Culture of the Republic, Zhanna Zasseeva, in a commentary to the Res news agency, said that the festive events had already begun and would continue until the end of May.
"The events dedicated to the Victory Day will be held throughout South Ossetia. Each educational institution, library, village club hold their own events, someone has a reader's conference, meetings, lessons of courage. We have also prepared a methodological collection -" Guide to Victories "...", - noted the Minister.
According to Zasseeva, on April 28, a Field Post office will be opened in the capital of South Ossetia. From May 1 to May 3, the patriotic action "St. George's Ribbon" will be held in the Republic.
"All events are united in the project "Great-grandchildren of the winners", which will be held under the program "Spiritual and moral education of the younger generation." Our goal is to preserve in families the memory of the participants in the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, ensuring the continuity of generations, national traditions and the value of historical self-awareness We invite the great-grandchildren of the winners to participate in all events,” she said.
The Minister has noted that on May 1, a concert of the "Biscuit" ensemble from St. Petersburg will be held at the State Drama Theater.
“Entrance to the concert will be by invitation cards. The organizer of this concert is the Russian House in Tskhinval together with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic,” she has specified.
On May 2, meetings of the Immortal Regiment volunteers will be held in all schools of the Republic, we plan to open a volunteer school on the basis of the Cadet Corps.
“On May 3, we are holding a competition of short stories, compositions and essays. Topics such as “leafing through an old family album, I …”, to continue the presentation of what is connected with photographs of soldiers from the album, etc.,” the Minister has specified.
On May 4 and 5, there will be remembrance evenings "Memory is our commander." The Minister noted that in honor of the Victory Day on Friday, May 6, a project called “Memory cannot be erased, cannot be killed ...” will be implemented.
“The event will be organized at the Eternal Flame in Tskhinvali. A mobile library is coming there, where books about the war, about heroes will be presented. Next, the Albion schoolchildren step in with their program - "In gratitude and in memory" ... ", she said.
On May 7, a military-patriotic action "The Fire of Memory - 2022" will be held in South Ossetia. The main events will be held on May 9, Victory Day.
“On May 9, memorial services will be held in all temples and churches for the slain soldiers. At 11.00 a military parade of the Tskhinval garrison will begin, followed by the procession of the Immortal Regiment column, in which thousands of citizens of the Republic will take part. At 13.00, according to tradition, a soldier's halt will take place in Pioneer Park. The events will be continued by a concert with the participation of talented descendants of veterans of the Great Patriotic War,” Zasseeva said.
The celebration will end with the May Victory salute.
23,736 people went to the front from South Ossetia, 11.7 thousand died, more than 7 thousand went missing. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 36 Ossetians.
