The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) remains the most important format for resolving humanitarian issues and achieving predictability and stability in the region, the OSCE Co-Chair Viorel Moshanu said on Thursday.

The meeting of the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions with the South Ossetian delegation took place on Thursday in Tskhinval.

“The IPRM format has been working great, I would like to thank all its participants. As a co-moderator, I look forward to our next meeting under the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism, which will be held on June 7th. I hope that it will remain an important format within the work of the Geneva discussions, which in general advances our main goal - the issue of developing an agreement on the non-use of force,” Moshanu said.

Another co-chair, Toivo Klaar, representing the EU, noted with regret that the 56th round of the Geneva discussions had been postponed.

“We want to hear from all participants how to move forward the process of the Geneva discussions, which is very important for maintaining stability in the region. In this context, our common task is to make the situation in the region as safe and predictable as possible,” Klaar stressed.

The UN Co-Chair Cihan Sultanoglu has expressed hope that through joint efforts it will be possible to give the Geneva discussions the purpose for which they were created.

“We want to do everything possible to ensure that the 56th round takes place sooner or later, we intend to discuss with all participants how to do so in order to improve the atmosphere of this process,” Sultanoglu said.
