President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev sent a telegram of condolences to the family and friends of the knight of the Order of Friendship of South Ossetia, honorary citizen of the city of Tskhinval Alexei Vostrikov in connection with his death, the press service of the head of state has reported.
“In the Republic of South Ossetia, the news of the untimely death of Colonel of the Armed Forces, deputy of the city Duma of the city of Krasnodar, the knight of the Order of Friendship of South Ossetia, honorary citizen of the city of Tskhinval Alexei Nikitich Vostrikov was received with a feeling of deep sorrow.
A real Russian officer, a patriot, a courageous man who all his life faithfully served his country, his people and selflessly defended the interests of the Motherland, has passed away.
The President noted that during the Georgian-Ossetian war of 1991-1992, Alexei Nikitich was an insurmountable obstacle in the way of the Georgian armed formations that were committing acts of violence against the civilian population of South Ossetia.
"He became for all of us an example of high honor and courage, his exploits will live in the grateful memory of the people of South Ossetia.
At this mournful hour, I share with you the bitterness of the irreparable loss and send deep condolences to all the relatives and friends of Alexei Nikitich in connection with their grief ," the President said.
