The State Security Committee of South Ossetia called on the inhabitants of the Republic to assist the border service of the department and the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia in protecting the state border and suppressing attempts to violate it, the press service of the KGB gas reported.
"Analysis of the circumstances of the illegal acts committed in the first half of 2022 on the interstate line of separation between South Ossetia and Georgia indicates that individual residents of the border districts of the Republic assisted the violators of the state border, providing them with information about the routes of movement and covert bypassing of border guards," the press service said.
They have noted that, in addition, a number of private cab drivers (taxi drivers) delivered the violators for a monetary reward to the place of illegal crossing of the state border or took them deep into the territory of South Ossetia.
The Border Service of the KGB of the RSO reminds of criminal liability for aiding and abetting illegal actions at the state border. It should also be noted that persons noticed in assisting violators are under special control when carrying out routine and preventive measures by South Ossetian law enforcement agencies.
In the interests of ensuring the security of South Ossetia, we once again call on the inhabitants of the Republic to assist the Border Service of the KGB of the RSO and the Border Service of the FSB of Russia in protecting the state border and suppressing attempts to violate it," the statement reads.
The KGB has added that information about a planned or committed crime in the field of protecting the State Border of South Ossetia can be transmitted anonymously by calling 8-929-805-77-57.
