Oil exploration has been launched in the village of Grom in Tskhinval district of South Ossetia on Thursday.
The event was launched by the head of the Republic, Alan Gagloev, and President of the Stroyprogress Group of Companies, Albert Dzhussoev.
Alan Gagloev has emphasized that the implementation of this project is a direct result of strengthening investor confidence in South Ossetia, their attitude to the efforts undertaken by the Republic's leadership to develop the real sector of the economy.
"This includes people from South Ossetia who want to contribute to the revival of our homeland," the President said.
Geological exploration work was the result of the agreement signed earlier between the government of South Ossetia and the JSC Rusneftegaz on geological exploration of oil fields.
The agreement envisages geological exploration, search and exploration of oil deposits, calculation of hydrocarbon reserves, geochemical and seismic studies, industrial exploitation of the field, etc.
