The head of the South Ossetian Parliamentary Committee on National Policy, Culture, Religion and Media and Chairman of the Committee on Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic Soslan Gassiev took part in the commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Delegations from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Belarus, and various regions of Russia arrived in the Leningrad Region, the press service of the legislative body of the Republic of South Ossetia reports.
The traditional Eternal Flame Relay dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory took place on the shore of the Lake Ladoga, at the Broken Ring memorial.
Governor Alexander Drozdenko welcomed the guests and residents of the Leningrad Region.
"For us, for Leningraders, the word Victory means a lot, as, in principle, for every Russian. We remember what victims were given on the altar of Victory. We remember what fascists were doing here, on Leningrad soil. We remember the heroic battles on the Oranienbaum bridgehead, and on the Sinyavinsky heights, and on the Neva patch, and of course we remember at what price the enemy was repelled from Leningrad. Victory will be ours. And we all believe that in '25 it will be the same as in '45. Happy upcoming holiday, Happy Great Victory Day!" he said.
It was from here, from the shores of Ladoga, that the legendary "Road of Life" began - a path that became a symbol of courage and hope.
The memorial event, organized by the Leningrad Region House of Folk Art, is also attended by Plenipotentiary Representative of President of Russia in the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutsan, State Duma Deputy Svetlana Zhurova, veterans, and representatives of the cities of military glory.
After the ceremonial rally and flower-laying ceremony at the Broken Ring memorial, a rally of historical military equipment, a motorcycle and car rally "Roads of Victory" took place along the monuments and obelisks of the Road of Life museum and memorial complex.
The South Ossetian delegation also laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Ossetian soldiers who died defending the Neva land.
