International competitions in practical shooting from a pistol and a carbine of pistol caliber have started in South Ossetia.
The competition is being held at the shooting range of the Practical Shooting Federation in Tskhinval district and has brought together more than 100 participants from Israel, Canada, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, South Ossetia itself and other countries and cities.
The head of the office of the Practical Shooting Federation of St. Petersburg Pavel Bystrov has noted in a commentary to "Res" that both novice athletes and masters of sports have become participants of the competition.
"The quorum of the competition participants is represented by novice shooters, as well as the highly qualified athletes with more than 20 years of experience, both in the pistol discipline and in other disciplines. There are also masters of sports of international class, one of whom is a native of South Ossetia Alan Alborov, who is also the head of the Council of the Federation of Shooting of St. Petersburg," Bystrov said.
He noted another participant in the competition - master of sports of international class Anton Nazarov, who is the vice-president of the Federation of Practical Shooting of Russia for the development of this sport.
"Also, from highly qualified athletes here are quite enough masters of sports, who, of course, claim to be awarded the title of master of sports of international class at these competitions," he has noted.
According to Bystrov, the competition has included 18 exercises according to the rules of practical shooting: nine short, six medium and three long exercises.
He has added that the judging consists of highly qualified judges in this sport, six of whom have an international category.
Bystrov expressed words of gratitude to the Federation of Practical Shooting of South Ossetia and the Committee on Youth Policy and Sports for their assistance in holding the event. He expressed special words of gratitude to the Republic's leadership for their support in holding the large sporting event.
Chief of Staff of the Practical Shooting Federation of the Republic of South Ossetia Chermen Tibilov has noted that the competitions are being held simultaneously at 18 venues .
Both men and women are taking part in the competition.
