For South Ossetia, Defender of the Fatherland Day has a special meaning, since not only the Armed Forces and security forces, but also all residents of the Republic, fighters of self-defense units were defending their homeland. This was noted at the press conference in Tskhinval by Deputy Defense Minister of the Republic of South Ossetia, Major General Vadim Siukaev.
The press conference is dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia and Defender of the Fatherland Day.
"All citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia are involved in this holiday. We have all gone through very difficult and challenging times together, endured all the hardships and deprivations with dignity. We have achieved, first of all, the recognition of our independence and sovereignty by the Russian Federation and other states,” Siukaev said.
He also addressed congratulations to the fighters of the special military operation on the front lines.
“The fighters of the special military operation from South Ossetia, and there are many of them, are carrying out the most difficult combat missions. First of all, I want to wish them health, success, a victorious completion of these events and a speedy return to their homeland,” Siukaev has concluded.
