International Music Festival of opera diva, People's Artist of South and North Ossetia, Honored Artist of Russia Veronika Dzhioeva was held in Tskhinval with a full house.
The event called "Star of Alania" was organized at the State Drama Theater.
The festival began with a video about the life and creative work of Veronika Dzhioeva.
The concert opened with the performance of "Ave Maria" by Giulio Caccini.
The owner of a powerful and expressive soprano performed the works by the Russian, foreign and Ossetian composers.
The festival featured performances by a student of the Lyceum of Arts Inga-Maria Bestaeva and the winner of the national project "Dzyrd" Arsen Chochiev, who recited a poem by Lyudmila Galavanova accompanied by music of Veronika Dzhioeva.
Then the opera diva, together with the male choir under President of the Republic under the direction of Sarmat Kabisov, performed the works by the well-known Ossetian composers.
Each performance by the star of Alania was accompanied by enthusiastic standing ovations.
Minister of Culture of the Republic Rada Dzagoeva thanked Veronika Dzhioeva for the festival and having expressed hope that the event will become traditional and annual.
"Dear audience, thank you for filling this hall with the warmth of your hearts today. Veronika Dzhioeva glorifies our people anywhere in the world. Culture erases borders and opens any doors.
This time Veronika came alone, but I really hope that we will find the opportunities for her colleagues, the world-famous performers, to come as well,” the Minister said.
Dzagoeva has emphasized that Veronika Dzhioeva is the adornment of the Ossetian culture.
Rector of the South Ossetian State University Vadim Tedeev has noted that thanks to Veronika Dzhioeva, the whole world will learn about the Republic.
“Some political scientists and experts, fulfilling someone’s order, claim that South Ossetia is a failed state. But isn’t a star named Veronika Dzhioeva the proof of our viability as a state?” the rector has noted.
During the concert, the opera diva was presented with a bouquet of flowers from President of South Ossetia Alan Gagloev.
It has also be noted that this year marks 25 years since Dzhioeva has been performing on stage.
The festival ended with the song “My Ossetia.”
