A delegation of the Moscow City Duma, headed by Deputy Sabina Tsvetkova, presented significant gifts to the Holy Trinity Church as part of its working visit to South Ossetia.
The head of state Alan Gagloev is taking part in the event.
On the day of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, August 28, with the support of President of the Holy Martyr Boniface Foundation Natalia Mezentseva and on the initiative of Sabina Tsvetkova, Orthodox shrines were delivered to Tskhinval.
The ceremony of handing over the shrines to the churches of the Republic was planned according to preliminary agreements with President Alan Gagloev.
The donated shrines has include the Gospel, censers, a children's candlestick, and a number of revered icons: St. Sergius of Radonezh, St. Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (with a particle of his relics), the icon of the Mother of God "Softening of Evil Hearts", St. Great Martyr Alexander the Victorious (with a particle of his relics), and St. Great Martyr George the Victorious (with a particle of his relics).
Of particular spiritual significance are the particles of the Life-giving Cross of the Lord, on which Jesus Christ was crucified, and the particles of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God, which were also donated.
The church valuables are housed in the Church of the Holy Trinity, where a solemn prayer service will be held.
Everyone will be able to worship the shrines and venerate them
On August 29, some of the holy items will be transferred to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Tskhinval, where a solemn service will also take place.
