South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev held a ceremony awarding representatives of the security forces.
During the event, the head of state congratulated those present on the celebration of the days of Uastyrdzhi, as well as on the recent Day of Courage and National Unity.
The President emphasized the historical significance of November 23.
"Our modern history, the struggle for independence, began on this day. And thanks to God and the Ossetian people, today South Ossetia is the independent state, moving forward together with its strategic partner, Russia," he said.
During the ceremony, the state awards were presented to members of the security forces for their faithful service and contribution to ensuring the Republic's security.
Special thanks and awards were given to the Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel actively fighting large wildfires.
Among those awarded was Gennady Kokoev, Advisor to Minister of Economic Development, who was awarded the Order of Friendship.
Security personnel were also awarded the medals "Defender of the Fatherland," "For Service Guarding Peace in South Ossetia," "For Military Labor in the Name of Peace," "In Commemoration of the Fifteenth Anniversary of Victory in the Patriotic War of the People of South Ossetia," "In Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Republic," and certificates of honor.
The awards were also received by soldiers who had participated in the special military operation.
In turn, representatives of the security forces expressed gratitude to President for his attention and appreciation of their service.
