During the meetings of participants of Mechanisms on Prevention and Reaction to Incidents (MPRI) the South Ossetian delegation has repeatedly emphasized the need to release from the Georgian prisons all citizens of South Ossetia languishing in Georgian prisons, including three citizens of South Ossetia - Georgy Zasseev, Joseph Kochiev and Georgy Valiev, sentenced to life imprisonment. This was said by the RSO Deputy Presidential Envoy for post-conflict settlement Khokh Gagloyty at the briefing in Tskhinval. He has noted that the South Ossetian authorities are concerned about the fate and health of these citizens who have joined the indefinite hunger strike April 15, in Gldani prison in Tbilisi (Georgia).

The Ossetian athlete, the world champion Rustam Chsiev will perform at the U.S. national championship in grappling, which will be held in June, 2013 in the U.S. city of Moristaun. According to the fighter, he will be performing in the open weight category.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) should be interested in the invitation of representatives of the countries where human rights are violated, to its sessions, particularly, representatives of South Ossetia affected by the 2008 war, unleashed by Georgia. Presidential Envoy of South Ossetia for post-conflict settlement Murat Dzhioev and Presidential Commissioner of South Ossetia for Human Rights Inal Tasoev have sent a letter to the co-chairs of the Geneva international discussions on security in Transcaucasia in connection with the information that in a Gldani prison number 8 in Tbilisi (Georgia) the prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, have gone on hunger strike, demanding a review of their cases.

An essay contest arranged by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the theme "The truth of a man is - what makes him a man," was completed in South Ossetia. The contest was held among the students of educational institutions of the Republic. As reported to IA "Res" by a spokesperson of the ICRC mission in South Ossetia Marina Tedety, the goal of the competition – is selection of the participants in the Summer School on International Humanitarian Law (IHL).

At today's meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on socio-economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia was approved the list of facilities to be restored, which are the basis of the Investment Program for socio-economic development of the Republic.

South Ossetia is expecting much from the current, seventh session of the Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on socio-economic cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia. This was stated by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov during the seventh meeting of the IGC, being held in Tskhinval.
"People of South Ossetia put great hopes on the IGC and attach more importance to this meeting," - said the head of state.
