Тhousands of the best representatives of the Ossetian people fell victim to fascism during 1941 - 1945, according to the statement of the South Ossetian Foreign Ministry.
On Sunday, Russia is marking the first Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Genocide of the Soviet People committed by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Nina Mohammad, a representative of the youth wing of the Union of Russian Citizens in South Ossetia, participated in the 5th Regional Youth Conference of Russian Compatriots from the near abroad.
As reported to the "Res" news agency by Mohammad, the event took place at the Russian House in Astana and brought together delegates from 11 countries.
"The conference was attended by compatriots from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Abkhazia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and South Ossetia," she explained.
South Ossetia highly appreciates Syria's principled position as a sovereign state that respects the right of peoples to self-determination.
President Alan Gagloev noted this in his congratulatory telegram to the head of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, on the country's Independence Day.
Gagloev has emphasized that this day symbolizes the inviolability of sovereignty and the ancient traditions of the Syrian statehood.
South Ossetian Foreign Minister Akhsar Dzhioev and South Ossetian Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Nicaragua Narim Kozaev took part in the celebration of the 216th anniversary of the signing of the act of independence of Venezuela.

The event took place on April 17 in Moscow.
Lyana Khetagurova, Deputy Chairperson of the Union of Russian Citizens public organization in South Ossetia, has become a delegate to the 5th Eurasian Meeting of Russian Compatriots, held in Bangkok.
The event, held under the theme "Female Faces of Russian Identity," brought together over 60 compatriots from 47 countries.
As noted by Khetagurova, the Forum discussed issues of preserving cultural identity and strengthening ties between compatriots abroad.
Ambassador of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev, at the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the presentation of the 2026 International Youth Festival for representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moscow. The event brought together more than 120 representatives of the the oreign embassies from 84 countries, as well as international organizations.
The Border Service of the State Security Committee of South Ossetia summarized its work for the first quarter of 2026, reporting the detention of 97 violators of border legislation at various sections of the state border.
According to the KGB, of the total number of those detained, 34 individuals violated state border regulations, and 63 violated border regulations.
The Border Service conducted investigations into each violation identified.
South Ossetia will provide humanitarian aid to residents of Dagestan affected by severe flooding.

"Dzhioev held interdepartmental consultations with the leadership of the Latin American Department, the Second Department of the CIS Countries, and the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in separate meetings," the press service stated.
South Ossetian President Alan Gagloev spoke by phone with Dagestan's leader, Sergey Melikov, on Monday morning.
He expressed words of support and sympathy to the republic's residents affected by the disaster, the President's press service reports.
"We are always there for our brothers and ready to provide the necessary assistance," the President said.
Sergey Melikov thanked him for the support, having noted that the Republic of Dagestan is currently coping on its own.
