CEC of South Ossetia accepted the first set of documents

Today the Central Election Committee of South Ossetia has accepted the first set of documents on nominating the candidate for Presidency of South Ossetia. It has been reported to IA "RES" by the Chairman of the CEC of South Ossetia Bella Plieva. She has noted that the documents were submitted by the initiative group of citizens, requesting the nomination of Igor Alborov as the candidate for president of South Ossetia in the presidential elections on March 25, 2011.

Alumni of judo section of the village Bekmar in Znaur District of South Ossetia Shaverdov Inal, Murat Bikoev and Arthur Jagaev won the first and two third places respectively in the open championship of the city of Vladikavkaz among the Sambo athletes, born in 2000-2003. This has been reported to IA "Res" by the coach of the athletes Dmitry Kotaev. "The competition took place in the capital of North Ossetia, December 24, 2001. Shaverdov was fighting in the weight category 26 kg. On the way to the final, he had three fights, which he defeated on points. Boxing coach from Tskhinval, international master of sports on boxing Alan Chekhoev became a member of the 49th Congress of the World Boxing Association (WBC), which was held in Las Vegas (USA). As reported to IA "Res" about the importance of this sporting event, "the world professional boxing elite gathered in the congress in Las Vegas; it was attended by 50 world champions. We have discussed the problems that exist in today's world of professional boxing, summed up the results of this year and outlined plans for the future "- Chekhoev told. Another major boxing event for South Ossetia at the last Congress was the admittance of Chekhoev into the WBC International Commission Coaching Council. "It is very important not only in sports, -particularly in boxing of South Ossetia,-but there is also some political point in this event. Indeed, this fact means that such a major organization as the WBC, has recognized the existence of our Republic, and we will do our best to let the world know our champions. I am charged with selection of young boxers and their recommendation to the Association, to help them to be trained and then get into the big ring,"- the coach has underlined. He has commended the chances of South Ossetian sportsmen.

The Red Cross is implementing micro-economic initiatives in South Ossetia

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) continues realizing the program of micro-economic initiatives in South Ossetia. As reported to IA "Res" by the head of the ICRC economic security department in South Ossetia Theresia Niutu, "the program is implemented in order to assist the most vulnerable people in South Ossetia who suffered in the combat actions of 1991-1992, 2008 to provide them with their own sources of income to support their families, to ensure, that they earn their living and not depend on humanitarian aid"-Niutu said. According to the Red Cross representative, the implementation program began in 2009 in the collective accommodation centers for persons displaced by force and the refugees in Tskhinval and was later expanded to rural areas.
She noted that the program participants are selected on the basis of vulnerability criteria.
