I am charged with selection of young boxers and their recommendation to the Association, to help them to be trained and then get into the big ring,"- the coach has underlined. He has commended the chances of South Ossetian sportsmen.
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) continues realizing the program of micro-economic initiatives in South Ossetia. As reported to IA "Res" by the head of the ICRC economic security department in South Ossetia Theresia Niutu, "the program is implemented in order to assist the most vulnerable people in South Ossetia who suffered in the combat actions of 1991-1992, 2008 to provide them with their own sources of income to support their families, to ensure, that they earn their living and not depend on humanitarian aid"-Niutu said. According to the Red Cross representative, the implementation program began in 2009 in the collective accommodation centers for persons displaced by force and the refugees in Tskhinval and was later expanded to rural areas.
She noted that the program participants are selected on the basis of vulnerability criteria.
A native of South Ossetia Barsag Kesaev is included in the top ten sportsmen of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania in 2011. Kesaev is a master of sports of international class on freestyle wrestling. He performs in the weight category up to 120 kg. In January of this year, a wrestler from Tskhinval won the silver medal in one of the most prestigious international freestyle wrestling competition - "Grand Prix Ivan Yarygin", which is annually held in Krasnoyarsk. In May 2011 Kesaev took the second place in the championship of Russia, and then in autumn, being a member of the Russian national team, he won the World Cup and later the European Cup. The wrestler is 23 years old. Kesaev is a member of the Russian national team of wrestlers, as well as one of the candidates to the Olympic team, that will represent Russia at the XXX Olympic Games in summer of 2012 in London.
Alumni of the South Ossetian Kyokushin-kan karate school are preparing for the championship of Russia among sportsmen of 12-17 years of age. The eighteenth round of the Geneva international discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia was completed December 14, 2011. Delegations of the Republic of South Ossetia, Republic of Abkhazia, Georgia, Russia, USA, the EU, UN and OSCE have taken part in the meeting. South Ossetian delegation was headed by Plenipotentiary of the President Boris Chochiev. The informational session on the legal aspects and international practice regarding the issue of missing persons was held within the frames of the meeting, held on December, 13. In the course of the discussions on December 14 the participants exchanged views on the current situation on the border of South Ossetia and Abkhazia with Georgia. It was noted that though the situation remains stable, ongoing violation of the state border, including the Georgian unmanned aerial vehicles often take place. Positive results of the meetings have been assessed within the framework of mechanisms on prevention and reaction to incidents, where measures on resolving the state border incidents have been taken.
South Ossetian President Eduard Kokoity has officially announced his resignation at the meeting with the public of the Republic and delegated his authority to Prime Minister Vadim Brovtsev. "I'm leaving, but I will struggle for further consolidation of the society, for strengthening of the statehood of South Ossetia. I'm going to work even harder for the people, it is my aim in life-the aim for struggle, and each of us must be filled with a sense of duty that no political ambitions should be above the interests of people"- Kokoity said, addressing to the public.
The final session of coordination council of the Russian compatriots living in the Republic of South Ossetia has taken place n Tskhinval. Heads and members of two public organizations, representing in the Republic the interests of compatriots, have taken part in the session: «Rossy» and «the Union of the Russian citizens of South Ossetia». As reported by representative of the Russian cooperation, the secretary of coordination council of the Russian compatriots Michail Stepanov to IA "RES", during the session its participants have considered the program of actions conducted in the Republic in 2011 with the assistance of the coordination centre. «For the current year a number of photo-exhibitions, competition of children's drawing, week of the Russian cinema, literary actions have been arranged in South Ossetia. Implementation of the schedule of actions has been recognized satisfactory», - Stepanov has noted. As he said, the coordination council had also discussed the urgent problems facing the organizations of compatriots in South Ossetia and a long-term plan of actions of the council for 2012 at close cooperation with the embassy of Russia in South Ossetia and the Russian Cooperation.
