The incessant artificial aggravation of the situation in the zone of the georgian-ossetian conflict and the demonstrative provoking of dangerous tension in the georgian-ossetian relations, that the management of Georgia continues to carry out, leaves less hopes for the opportunity of conducting a constructive dialogue with it as with the adequate opponent.
As it has already been informed, as a result of the deliberate destruction by the Georgian side of the main sluice Edis-Tskhinval in the area of the georgian-populated villages Tamarasheni-Kekhvi, the supply of potable water to the town Tskhinval is stopped. The twelve-day water blockade in conditions of the unusually hot weather put the population of the town in a critical situation, really threatening with the occurrence of humanitarian accident.
Speculating on the created in Tskhinval situation, the Georgian side as a condition for the renewal of water supply continues imposing the absurd and absolutely unacceptable political requirements, connected with the recognition of the puppet, so-called « temporary territorial administration », locating in the area of the sluice damage under the armed security forces of the divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The same divisions, threatening with application of weapon, do not admit the repair brigades, directed to the place of damage.
The intermediary efforts of the Mission of OSCE in Georgia, directed at the way out of the created situation, for the lack of any reaction from the management of OSCE and its Operating Chairman, have not made any influence on the Georgian side. Moreover, on June, 3rd this year the Georgian authorities, frankly misinforming its own population, have stopped the supply of potable water to the neighboring to Tskhinval town Gori, trying to provoke there the one more center of destabilization.
Criminal irresponsibility of the Georgian management, with which it knowingly aggravates the situation, demands the due estimation and immediate interference by the authoritative international structures and institutes, accredited in Georgia, and the threat of serious humanitarian accident in the region should draw the attention of the organizations, the activity of which is connected with their prevention and the decision of similar problems.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the developed critical situation forces the authorities of South Ossetia Republic to resort to adequate measures, the realization of which was postponed several times from the hope of prudence of the Georgian side and from humane reasons. So, on June, 3rd, 2007 since 15:00pm the water supply on irrigation canals to the neighboring regions of Georgia has been stopped. Potable water is still supplied to Georgia.
These measures will work up to the unconditional and full elimination of the damage of the sluice Edis-Tskhinval.
