"We deeply appreciate the efforts of the Russian diplomats who raised before the OSCE a question about recognition of South Ossetia", stated to the RES Agency the South Ossetian Foreign Minister Murat Djioev commenting on the statement by the RF Permanent Representative to the OSCE Anvar Azimov.
"The Republic of South Ossetia exists as an independent state for 20 years. We deeply appreciate Russia's efforts and those of other countries, which recognized our independence. We will appreciate any country, including the OSCE member states, which will recognize the sovereignty of South Ossetia. We deeply appreciate Russia's diplomatic efforts in raising the questions about recognition of South Ossetia's independence before the OSCE", emphasized the Minister. He undelined that "in accordance with the 20 January 2009 Memorandum of Understanding, South Ossetia delegated the responsibility to represent the state in international organizations to the Russian Federation". According to Foreign Minister, recognition of South Ossetia by international community and international organizations will be beneficial for not only South Ossetia and its people, but it will contribute to peace and stability in the Caucasus. "We fully respect the OSCE and had repeatedly declared about readiness to cooperate with this authoritative organization, but this cooperation should be parity-based and it should take into account the fact that South Ossetia is a recognized state", concluded Murat Djioev.
