The RF government approved the draft Agreement with South Ossetia on Joint Military Base on the territory of South Ossetia. The Government decided to propose the RF President the Agreement for signing. The Agreement is concluded for 49 years with providing for its default prolongation for another 15 years.
The Agreement stipulates the status of the Russian Military Base personnel and their family members, the functions of the base, conditions for use of land and other property. Additionally, the Agreement sets forth the use of the Military Base capacities jointly with the armed forces of South Ossetia for protection of sovereignty and security of this state, including actions against international terrorist groups.
