The Chairman of the government Vadim Brovtsev held a working meeting with heads of district administrations. The meeting’s discussion focused on the absence of irrigation water supply to Znaur and Tskhinval districts of South Ossetia. The head of Znaur district Zaur Tskhovrebov stressed that “there are risks that the harvest will be lost, since irrigation water is not supplied to the villages located farther than the village of Velit, Znaur district”.

In his turn, the head of the State Unitary Enterprise “Energoresurs” Alan Gabaraev noted that all necessary measures has been taken to ensure water supply to rural areas. “In coming two days, the supply of irrigation water will be resumed”, underscored Gabaraev. He also voiced the problem with considerable shortage of inflow water. ‘To Tskhinval, the water should flow through two branches of Liakhva river. The water has been flowing through the left branch, but now it is destroyed. The capacities of the right branch are low”, he said. Vadim Brobtsev reminded that last year,19 million rouble were allocated to supply rural areas of the Republic with water and he tasked relevant structures to eliminate all problems. “The irrigation pipe is leaking in many places. It is necessary to identify all problematic segments in the pipe by the end of August and weld them up. But now, in order to prevent losses in the harvest, it is necessary to supply water to the rural districts”, said Brovtsev. Additionally, he informed that he was going to visit Leningor district in near future to see the situation on the ground.
