The armed forces of South Ossetia will shoot down all Georgian aircraft violating the airspace of the Republic, stated the Minister of Defence of South Ossetia Valery Yakhnovets commenting violation of airspace of the Republic by a Georgian drone on 14 November.
"South Ossetia is a recognized sovereign state and, under international law, no one has the right to intrude its territory," said Yakhnovets.
Referring to statements by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Nino Kalandadze, who said Nov. 15 that Georgia considered South Ossetia as part of its territory and had the sovereign right to have drones overflying it", Yakhnovets said that he left such claims on the Georgian authorities' conscience.

"If Georgia considers it necessary to send drones here, let it do so, and we for our part will consider it necessary to shoot them down. The armed forces of South Ossetia are tasked to ensure security of the territory of the Republic and we intend to fulfill it. Anything, whether a drone or other aircraft, that will violate the border, will shot down, " said the Defense Minister.
Yakhnovets reported that a Georgian drone was discovered by the observation post of Defense Ministry of South Ossetia November 14 at around 18:00.
"After this, the drone was shot at", noted the minister. He stated that Georgian drones regularly violated the airspace of South Ossetia. According to him, such incidents occured on average 4-8 times a month.
"Before the last one, the case of violation of airspace was recorded on November 10, when a drone flew over the territory. The drone also shot at," said Yakhnovets.
He explained that for reconnaissance purposes, Georgia used drones of two types - «Hermes 450S» and "Skylark-1", "Skylark-2", made in Israel.
"These devices are designed to gather intelligence. They can carry video and audio surveillance at any time of day. Usually, they fly at night and in early morning hours, as well as during all important events on the territory of the Republic ", said Yakhnovets.
