Today on the eve of the second round of presidential elections of the RSO the "day of silence" has been announced in South Ossetia. As reported to IA "Res" by the Chairman of the Central Election Committee of South Ossetia, Bella Plieva, the republic is ready for the second round of presidential elections. "November, 26, the day before the election, according to the law is announced as the "Day of Silence" so the voters could easily make their choice. Today, all campaigning activities related to the upcoming elections, are prohibited in the territory of the Republic.
Moreover, all the election commissions will be working as usual,"- Plieva has said.
She has noted that all the territorial election commissions and polling stations in the territory of South Ossetia, Moscow and Sukhum are ready for the voting process. "The first round was held without any incident, and we hope that this time we will manage to conduct fair and transparent democratic elections. We must show the world high level of our political culture,"- Plieva has stressed, having added that the first round of elections was highly estimated by the international observers. Meanwhile, the law-enforcement agencies have bolstered security in order to prevent public disturbances and provocations during the elections. November 27, 86 polling stations will be functioning on the day of election, 84 of them –in South Ossetia - one in Moscow and one in Sukhum. It should be noted that the presidential elections in South Ossetia are connected with the end of presidential term of Eduard Kokoity in December, 2011. Two presidential candidates - Emergency Situations Minister Anatoly Bibilov and ex-Minister of Education Alla Dzhioeva, who won a roughly equal number of votes in the first round of voting, will contest in the second round of elections. The second round of voting will be confirmed successful, if more than 30% of voters, registered in the lists, take part in them. The winner will be elected by a simple majority. Preliminary results of the presidential election in South Ossetia will be announced in the morning of November 28. Official results will be announced within five days after the re-vote. The elected President of South Ossetia will take office in accordance with the Constitution and the law "On elections of President of the Republic of South Ossetia" on the tenth day after the official announcement of the CEC results of the presidential elections.
