The Сentral Election Committee of South Ossetia has registered ex-chairman of KGB Leonid Tibilov as the candidate for president of the Republic. As IA "RES" was informed at the Central Electoral Committee of the RSO, «after receiving a certificate of registration, the candidate will acquire a right to start pre-election activities, including propaganda, meetings with the population and so on».
The Central Electoral Committee is also considering a question of registration or refusal the registration of 16 more nominees, which have been put forward by the action groups of citizens and political parties. It should be noted that from among the presidential aspirants only six have passed an examination in knowing the state languages of South Ossetia that is obligatory for registration the presidential candidate. However the Central Electoral Committee has not made yet the official decision on refusal the registration of the applicants who passed the examination.
The CEC will publish the final list of the registered candidates eligible to participate in presidential elections, on February 29.
