The proposal of Saakashvili to resign is not interesting, not even acceptable, because it has no relation to reality. This has been said IA "Res" by a Chief of the Caucasus Research Department of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies Jana Amelina, commenting on the statement by the president of Georgia on his readiness to resign, in order to return South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

According to the expert, neither the president of Russia, nor the people of Russia or the Russian public are discussing the topic of abolition of the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"Saakashvili could afford to cut off any part of his body, even his head or his language - it will change nothing. It's not a matter of Saakashvili, the point is in the will of the Ossetian and the Abkhaz peoples, who have long ago chosen the path of independence, autonomy and passed a long way alone, without the recognition of Russia, and now they are the full-fledged, internationally recognized states,"- said Amelina. In her opinion, talking about any negotiations behind the backs of Tskhinval and Sukhum about the status of these states, is absurd, and has nothing to do with reality.
