Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia
Within the frames of the commemorative events dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the August 2008 armed aggression by Georgia against South Ossetia, August 8, 2012 Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia is planning to hold a round table "Iron Nykhas" with representatives of the Ossetian diaspora from the far and near abroad .
The events of August 2008, when along with the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing on the night of August 8 Georgia had brought down its military power upon the peaceful citizens of South Ossetia, shocked the world and stabbing painran through the hearts of the Ossetians living outside their homeland. It's no secret that along with the armed aggression a real informational war has been unleashed. One of the first ones, who had a hand and did a great deal in breaking the informational blockade and in bringing the truth to the world community, were, of course, representatives of the Ossetian diaspora abroad.
Diaspora was working actively to promote and disseminate information about the real events in Ossetia; they were broadcasting the problems of the Ossetian people and the genocide committed by Georgia, were holding actions and meetings, which condemned the actions of the Georgian authorities.
The upcoming round table will also be devoted to discussing the problems of the Ossetians living in different parts of the world, and will contribute to closerrelations between the Ossetian diaspora and its historical homeland.
