South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov has received the members of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov.
The Head of State welcomed the guests on the soil of South Ossetia and thanked them for their hard work in improving security and strengthening of bilateral relations between Russia and South Ossetia.
"All of our joint actions are aimed at rapprochement between the two countries and further development of integration processes," - he said.
The President informed the Russian senators about the situation in different areas of life in the Republic and also shared the future plans for the rehabilitation and development of the South Ossetian state.
"We will do our best to use the funds flowing to South Ossetia from Russia for strengthening of security and growing the welfare of our people, who for the last two decades have suffered a lot of misery and privations", - he said.
In turn, Vladimir Dzhabarov thanked the head of state for the warm welcome, and taking the opportunity, congratulated him on his election to the presidency. According to him, the elections, which resulted in that Leonid Tibilov has become the president of South Ossetia, have been evaluated as the most democratic elections in the post-Soviet space in recent years.
According to the senator, for Russia's foreign policy the priority is the integration processes in the post-Soviet space, and in particular, the relationship with South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"We are united not only by a common past, history, and even the same mentality, but also by the desire for a common future. The people of South Ossetia can be proud of, how their sons defended its independence. And we are very pleased that in August 2008 Russia fulfilled its allied duty to assist in that difficult time and recognized South Ossetia. This wise step of the leadership of the Russian Federation also met the aspirations of the Russian people "- he underlined.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Stanislav Kochiev and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of South Ossetia Zurab Kokoev and Yuri Dzitstsoity.
