Leonid Tibilov: Georgia has to recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people and the independence of South Ossetia

South Ossetia welcomes the statement of the Russian President Vladimir Putin on the unalterable decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

This was stated by the President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov at the government session held in Tskhinval.
Commenting on the Russian president`s speech during the yesterday`s press conference in Moscow, Leonid Tibilov stated that South Ossetia stood for good-neighbourly relations between all the countries in the world, including Russia and Georgia.
"At the same time, we welcome the principled stand of Russia towards South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and will continue to pursue our foreign policy in accordance with the earlier reached agreements with Russia", - said the president.
The President has addressed to the Cabinet of Ministers to focus on the statements of the new authorities of Georgia, which declare the aspiration for peace in the South Caucasus, but at the same time don`t want to accept the new realities in the region.
"New people in the Georgian government should understand and accept our fundamental and unchanging attitude to what happened between Georgia and South Ossetia. Georgia has to recognize the genocide of the Ossetian people, to recognize our independence and sign a legally binding document on the non-use of force, which is being drafted in the format of the Geneva talks ", - said the president.
Tibilov has stressed that South Ossetia will continue to pursue a course of strengthening further cooperation with Russia.
"This is the main line of our foreign policy and we will not deviate from it," - underlined the head of state.
