President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov and first Deputy Defense Minister of Abkhazia Beslan Tsvizhba discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries, and also noted the contribution of South Ossetian volunteers in the Patriotic War of Abkhazia against the Georgian aggression.
Having received the delegation of the Abkhaz Defense Ministry, who arrived in Tskhinval to participate in the events dedicated to the Day of Defender of the Fatherland and the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Defense Ministry of the Republic of South Ossetia, the President welcomed the guests, recalling the common fate of both Republics.
"We all remember the 90s of the last century, when the neo-fascist Republic of Georgia decided to seize the territories allegedly belonging to it. But this is the land of our ancestors and even if we were to die here, we would never have given it," - Anatoly Bibilov stressed.
The President also noted the contribution of the South Ossetian volunteers in defending the independence of the Abkhazian state.
"A lot of people from South Ossetia went to Abkhazia to defend the territorial integrity of the Republic," - he said.
Beslan Zvizhba thanked Anatoly Bibilov for the warm welcome and noted that there was an agreement between the defense ministreies of the two states, according to which on September 30 the South Ossetian side will take part in the military parade in Sukhum in honor of the Victory Day celebration of the Abkhaz people in a bloody war against the Georgian fascism.
"We would like the South Ossetian servicemen to take part in the parade with Ossetian flag. Let our peoples see that we have a brotherly relationship. We have common fate," - he said.
At the end, the parties exchanged souvenirs. The meeting was also attended by acting Minister of Defense of the RSO Ibrahim Gasseev.
