President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov, during a meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions, confirmed the firm position of the Republic aimed at a peaceful and civilized solution of all existing issues, said Foreign Minister of the RSO Dmitry Medoev in a comment to the news agency "Res".
"The President gave a positive assessment of the Geneva process as a productive platform for interaction in the international arena. This is another confirmation of the firm position, declared by South Ossetia, aimed at a peaceful and civilized solution of all existing issues. I think it was important for our European partners to hear that such a position of the South Ossetian side will continue in the future," - Medoev said.
According to the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia, at today's talks Anatoly Bibilov gave an unambiguous answer to the question of the extradition of Tatunashvili's body.
"The President gave an exhaustive answer to the question of the EU co-chairman Toivo Claar and his counterpart Levant Bilman on the extradition of the body of the Georgian citizen Tatunashvili - in South Ossetia nothing and no one interferes with this. This will certainly be done upon completion of all procedures. Moreover, the President drew particular attention to the artificial politicization of this issue by certain forces in Georgia, trying to extract certain dividends in the internal political struggle and pointed out the inadmissibility of such actions," - Medoev said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia also drew attention to a number of nuances that he had noticed during the talks of the co-chairs of the Geneva discussions with the President of the Republic.
"Listening carefully to Messrs. Claar and Bilman, it seemed to me that they were trying to link the issue of the extradition of Tatunashvili's body to the expediency of continuing the Geneva process and meetings within the framework of the IPRM, repeatedly hinting at the supposedly negative impact of this situation on the upcoming meeting in the framework of the Geneva discussions," - said Medoev.
According to the minister, an attempt to implement such ideas, especially in the year of the 10th anniversary of the important international platform, will be a serious blow to the peace process, not to mention the threat to regional stability.
