At the end of August South Ossetia plans to open a trading house in Syria, which recognized the independence of the Transcaucasian Republic a year ago, said South Ossetian President Anatoly Bibilov.

He has noted that the delegation will go with specific proposals, including the organization of the work of South Ossetian entrepreneurs in Syria and Syrian in South Ossetia. “We will explore the possibilities of financial and banking interaction - these issues are on the agenda now. Both the Syrian and South Ossetian parties are now focused on economic relations,” the President said.

Regarding the foreign policy, the opening of embassies, Bibilov has noted that the Foreign Ministries of Syria and South Ossetia are actively working in this direction. “There are objective and subjective reasons why the issue is dragging on, but the work in this direction is pretty tight. This year, this is unlikely to happen, but we will come close to solving this issue,” he said.

Syria recognized the independence of South Ossetia and other former Georgian autonomy, Abkhazia, on May 29, 2018.
