The government of South Ossetia on Thursday adopted a new resolution providing for the extension of the state border crossing procedure from April 10 through the multilateral checkpoint "Ruck" on the border with Russia until 23.59 minutesб May 31, 2020. Previously, the ban on crossing the state border through the checkpoint "Ruck" was valid until May 1.
The decision notes that all measures taken are subject to special circumstances and are exclusively temporary.
The measures taken do not apply to citizens of South Ossetia returning according to a specially designed schedule through the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Republic, members of official delegations, employees of diplomatic missions, Russian military personnel, citizens, leaving due to the death of a close relative, persons sent by the Ministry of Health to receive high-tech medical assistance, as well as for drivers of vehicles involved by the government to provide the Republic with food and essential goods and medicine, construction and other goods.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic was instructed to notify the competent authorities that the measures taken are due to special circumstances and are exceptional and temporary.
To date, no cases of Covid-19 infection have been recorded in South Ossetia. In North Ossetia, as of April 30, the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection rose to 836.
A government meeting was held with the participation of President Anatoly Bibilov, who said that "the situation in the Republic is stable, but it is necessary to minimize the risk of coronavirus penetration into the Republic."
Until May 11, the quarantine was extended on Thursday in all educational institutions of the Republic, public places, except food stores. Non-working days are declared from April 8 to April 30 inclusively with the preservation of wages.
In order to prevent the penetration of coronavirus into the Republic, by the decision of the Security Council, the checkpoints with Georgia are completely closed since late February.
