On the Victory and Independence Day of the Republic of Abkhazia, acting Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev took part in a solemn ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers at the memorial to the fallen warriors in Sukhum, the press service of the Republic's Foreign Ministry reports.
"President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania, Russian Ambassador to Abkhazia Alexey Dvinyanin, members of the government and Parliament of Abkhazia, representatives of the Movement "mothers of Abkhazia for peace and social justice", war veterans, volunteers, and members of the public came to worship at the graves of the defenders of the Fatherland," the press service said.
Flowers were also laid at the memorial complex of the first President of Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba in the village of Lower Eshera and at the grave of the second President of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh in his ancestral village of Jgyarda, Ochamchyr district.
