Two new cases of coronavirus have been laboratory confirmed in South Ossetia in a day, 14 since the day the restrictions on the border with Russia were lifted (September 15), the Republic’s chief sanitary doctor Marina Kochieva told IA "Res" on Saturday.

"Of the 23 tests conducted, two showed a positive result," Kochieva clarified.

As noted by the Health Ministry, five people with a confirmed diagnosis of a new coronavirus infection are being treated in the "red zone", four of them, according to the CT scan, have pneumonia, the condition of patients is of moderate severity. Two more were discharged from the infectious diseases hospital, the rest are being treated on an outpatient basis.

Since April of this year, more than 5.6 thousand tests for COVID-19 have been carried out in the laboratory of the Committee.

In total, over the entire period of the pandemic, 104 cases of coronavirus were registered on the morning of October 3, 14 cases are registered since the lifting of restrictions on the border with the Russian Federation (September 15).

The chief sanitary doctor once again calls on all residents of the Republic to observe precautions, not to plan trips, if there is no urgent need, to observe the mask regime.
