The Committee has noted that as a result of the preliminary questioning of the offender, it became known that “he had previously left for Georgia in the hope of finding a well-paid job and staying in Georgia: however, due to the impossibility of employment and the lack of conditions for existence, the detainee was forced to make an attempt to illegally return to the territory of Republic of South Ossetia.

In addition, on November 20 in the vicinity of the settlement of Khelchua in Tskhinval district for illegal crossing of the state border of South Ossetia was detained a citizen of Georgia, a native of the settlement of Zardiantkari, Gori municipality.

"The reason for the transition in this particular case was the extremely low standard of living in this Georgian border settlement and the lack of elementary means of subsistence," the message says.

The KGB has noted that the violations suppressed in the border area are absolutely explainable from the point of view of the hopelessness of the situation in Georgian villages located along the line of the RSO state border with Georgia, but they are unacceptable from a legal point of view, as well as in conditions of the danger of the spread of coronavirus infection.

The State Security Committee once again has called on the citizens of the Republic of South Ossetia: before committing an unlawful act, think about the possible consequences, the existence of administrative and criminal liability for violation of border legislation, as well as the health of their loved ones who are exposed to serious epidemiological danger.
