The laying of wreaths at the memorial complex to the Defenders of Ossetia - Russian and South Ossetian soldiers took place on Sunday morning in Tskhinval. These days the Republic is commemorating the 13th anniversary of Georgia's attack on South Ossetia.
Today's commemorative action was held "without words", presidents of South Ossetia and Abkhazia Anatoly Bibilov and Aslan Bzhania, the Russian Ambassador to the Republic Marat Kulakhmetov, representatives of the government and the public, guests and residents of the city came to support it.
The participants of the action silently put flowers at the memorial, crossed themselves and left in the same silence. The deceased defenders were mentally thanked for the peace that they gave to the people of South Ossetia at the cost of their own lives.
The complex was built in the center of Tskhinval as part of the Investment Program and opened at the beginning of the year.
The leadership and guests of the Republic also laid wreaths and flowers at the Poklonnaya Cross at the shot barracks of Russian peacekeepers, which was one of the first to be massively shelled by the aggressor in August 2008.
