n the Republican Multidisciplinary Medical Center of South Ossetia, the award ceremony was held for medical workers who were fighting for the life and health of patients with COVID-19 in the "red zone".
The medals "For the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic" were presented by the Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia Gennady Bekoev, who thanked the doctors for their selfless work.
“The pandemic has become a serious test for the entire health care system and for all health workers who were fighting the global threat every day without sleep and without rest, saving the lives of our small population in the “red zone”. We are all witnesses of your work, you performed your duties, for which I am enormously grateful to you on behalf of the president and the government,” Bekoev said.
By the decree of the President of the Republic for the courage and dedication shown in the fight against the new coronavirus infection COVID-19, and the provision of qualified medical care in a pandemic, about 150 people are presented with the award, including medical workers, employees of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee, volunteers.
Some of them were awarded earlier by the head of state Anatoly Bibilov. On behalf of the President, the Prime Minister of the Republic today awarded medals to about 50 medical workers, and workers of the South Ossetian Consumer Supervision Committee .and volunteers will also receive them. The lists of workers nominated for awards were formed by the Health Ministry, based on the number of hours they worked in the "red zone".
Four health workers were posthumously awarded the medal for Fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic. The awards were given to the relatives of the deceased.
At the end of the awarding ceremony, Gennady Bekoev turned to the Health Minister Soslan Naniev, and instructed him to settle all issues related to the recalculation of wages by the end of August, so that by the end of the month all medical workers would receive their payments in full.
