Not only the development of relations with friendly countries, but also opposition to revanchist aspirations on the part of Georgia remains an urgent direction of South Ossetia's foreign policy and security, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov said at the congress of the United Ossetia party on Tuesday.

“Over the past five years, the Georgian authorities have repeatedly carried out provocations in the border zone.

The main point of tension was the area around the village of Uista, Znaur district.

In this regard, the leadership of South Ossetia was forced to tighten security measures, as well as set up additional posts near the village of Uista. The harsh reaction of the authorities of the Republic made it possible to stop further provocations of the Georgian security forces at the border,” the President said.

According to him, as a result of the steps taken to strengthen the regime of protection of the state border, strengthen the counterintelligence direction, as well as the comprehensive counteraction to the hostile policy pursued by Georgia towards South Ossetia, the implementation of the so-called "Strategy for de-occupation", aimed at blurring the state border, was disrupted.

“The ultimate goal of the Georgian strategy was the establishment of the Georgian jurisdiction on the territory of South Ossetia. However, not a single point of this strategy was implemented due to the firm position of the leadership of the Republic. The Georgian side itself admits the fact of its failure, puts this defeat on a par with the defeat of Georgia in the August war of 2008,” the President noted.
