President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov visited the Republican Multidisciplinary Medical Center (RMMC), the press service of the head of state reported.
Minister of Health and Social Development Soslan Naniev said that high-tech hip replacement surgeries were performed on the basis of the RMMC.
“We approached this problem systematically. First, we trained our specialist Konstantin Servetnik, sending him for an internship at the leading Traumatology Department of the Clinical Hospital of the Republic of Dagestan, where he was trained in performing arthroplasty of large hip joints. It was important to start performing these operations in South Ossetia. All operations were carried out without complications, they were free of charge for the population of the Republic,” he said.
Soslan Naniev has also noted that the Ministry of Health and Social Development will soon begin to perform knee arthroplasty and hand microsurgery operations.
“This is a more labor-intensive process, but a necessary one. The Ministry also purchases high quality knee joints. According to our agreement, specialists from the Russian Federation will come to us in March to help us launching this type of medical care. Our operating rooms fully comply with all modern standards.
Also, a congress of specialists in hand microsurgery from Russia is planned for early April,” he stressed.
The President has noted that such operations are a direct indicator of the development of medicine in the Republic of South Ossetia.
“It's nice to see that medicine in South Ossetia is moving ahead. And the fact that such serious events are taking place in our Republic is the proof that our medicine does not stand pat and is developing rapidly,” said Anatoly Bibilov.
