As the president and resident of South Ossetia, I would be very pleased if Belarus recognized our republic, the head of the South Ossetian state Anatoly Bibilov told reporters.

“Belarus has the full moral right to recognize our Republic, because the pro-Russian fairway, in which South Ossetia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other countries are located, unites all of us, the republics of the post-Soviet space.

Somewhere, of course, for example, in Ukraine they change the vector, with a certain pressure from the West, in order to create such a vacuum around Russia, supposedly it has no allies, friends," the President said.

Bibilov has noted that somewhere they withstand the pressure of Western countries.

“We, first of all, withstood this policy, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, knowing full well that the same West paid attention to Georgia, armed it, reshaped its brains, that Russia is almost evil, and the West is “white and fluffy”. But in the end, everything turned out differently,” the head of state noted.

According to the President, in Belarus and in South Ossetia, the peoples have the same values and vector of development, "which we honor and observe."

“Therefore, I think that, first of all, in moral terms, Belarus can recognize us,” he explained. “Of course, we cannot insist, but for us, without a doubt, this is very important.”

Also, according to Bibilov, Russia will not be against Belarus to recognize South Ossetia.

“The recognition of Belarus is very important for us. And I dare to assume that everything is heading towards this, historical ties and what is happening today are leading to this event,” the head of state concluded.
