Close work is being carried out with the Russian side to solve the problems that exist at the Lower Zaramag customs post, President of South Ossetia Anatoly Bibilov said during a live broadcast on his Instagram page.

“Citizens of South Ossetia experience certain inconveniences at customs, but we must understand that the customs authorities of the Russian Federation perform their functional duties in accordance with the law, and, most importantly, they work according to the Eurasian Customs Code, in the zone of which we are not located.

Accordingly, this causes certain problems. In this direction, close work is being carried out with the customs committee of Russia, the existing issues are being resolved. For example, if earlier imports were issued for a month, two or three months, today it can be easily issued for a year,” the President said.

The Head of State called on persons who face cases of arbitrariness at customs to notify the relevant authorities about it.

“If someone delays the procedure for registering goods, importing, then, firstly, at the customs post there is a book of complaints, a helpline, which you can and should contact. Secondly, you and I know very well that we have a customs post "Lower Zaramag", where the customs officers of South Ossetia are stationed, contact them, draw up documents, no one can have any obstacles for this. Do not think that this will cause you more problems. This is far from true. The customs service of Russia is too principled about the actions of its employees,” Bibilov stressed.

The President noted that it is impossible to fight the arbitrariness of individuals with one administrative resource.

“Together we can solve all these issues that will reach me. We will do everything necessary so that citizens can carry out clearance procedures at customs more smoothly,” the head of state concluded.
