Foreign observers are expected to arrive in South Ossetia to monitor the presidential elections on April 10, Foreign Minister Dmitry Medoev told the IA “Res”.
"In addition to a solid delegation from Russia, the fraternal republics of Donbass, delegations from Abkhazia, Austria, Venezuela, Germany, Nagorno-Karabakh, Nicaragua, Turkey, Finland and other countries with which we have good relations will arrive to observe the elections," the Minister has noted.
Medoev has stressed the importance of the presence of the election observers.
"The participation of the international observers in such an important political process as the presidential elections in our country will undoubtedly enhance the image of our Republic as a whole and give greater legitimacy to the political processes and institutions of the State of Alania," the Minister said.
The CEC of the Republic noted that more than 40 international observers would be monitoring the presidential elections.
"South Ossetia is awaiting the arrival of delegations from Abkhazia, the Luhansk People's Republic and the Russian Federation, including representatives of North Ossetia. Representatives of the CEC of North Ossetia and Abkhazia, the State Duma of Russia, the public chambers of Russia, Abkhazia and others," said the CEC secretary Kristina Avlokhova.
On April 10, the current head of state Anatoly Bibilov, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Pliev, leader of the political party "Nykhas" Alan Gagloev, deputy Garry Muldarov and former deputy Dmitry Tasoev will be competing for the highest state post of the Republic.
